CPSV Launches Fact Sheet Series
The Consortium to Prevent School Violence will produce a series of 35 to 40 two-page fact sheets, with about 20 fact sheets currently under development.
These streamlined fact sheets, which are specifically designed to place useful information into the hands of practitioners and other stakeholders nationwide, represent a new and exciting approach to bridging the research-to-practice gap. State and local education departments are encouraged to distribute these fact sheets to school-related personnel and other local stakeholders.
A schedule of forthcoming fact sheets and the first four fact sheets in the series may be downloaded here:
Fact Sheet 1: Overview of School Violence Prevention
Fact Sheet 2: Bullying Prevention
Fact Sheet 3: Zero Tolerance Policies in Schools
Fact Sheet 4: Anger Management in Schools
CPSV Founding Membership:
Founding Membership Enrollment Extended to September 1, 2008.
The Consortium is encouraging supporters to become Founding Members during the first ten months of its operation.
By contributing $100 to the Consortium, an individual becomes a Founding Member of the CPSV, with his/her name permanently listed as such in Consortium records and on the CPSV website. Once the time window for Founding Member enrollment closes on September 1, 2008, regular membership procedures will begin and no more Founding Members will be accepted.

School Shootings Position Statement:
Following the school shootings of Fall 2006, a group of 20 researchers and practitioners in the field of school violence prevention collaborated on the creation of a position statement on the school shootings. Fourteen states and many professional organizations disseminated the statement. In the process, it became apparent that an alliance of researchers and practitioners in school violence prevention to further the common goal of reducing school violence would be highly valuable. The CPSV is an outgrowth of the efforts surrounding the creation of the School Shootings Position Statement. [ More ]
